Graze Wednesday (on a Thursday)


Oops, seems like I completely forgot to upload my Graze review yesterday. So for one week only here’s Graze Thursday! This week I had jaffa cake flapjacks, sweet and salty kern pops, cracking black pepper cashews, and fruity mango chutney with black pepper dippers

The jaffa cake flapjacks were absolutely perfect. They smelt of oats and orange and I was instantly excited to eat them. The texture was soft and morish, and the orange flavour really came through. They were sweet and gorgeous and while I want to try all their vegan snacks I wouldn’t mind receiving these flapjacks every week.

Ingredients: rolled oats (44%), margarine (vegetable oils (rapeseed, palm), water, salt), demerara sugar, golden syrup, chocolate coating (sugar, vegetable oils (coconut, palm kernel), fat-reduced cocoa powder, emulsifier (soya lecithin), natural vanilla flavouring, and natural olive oil.

The kern pops were interesting, they are liked half popped popcorn and I’ve never eaten them before. They had a little crunch, and a similar taste to the roasted corn except they have a deeper aftertaste of corn. I found there was more salt than sugar on the kern pops themselves as most of the sugar was sat in the bottom of the packet. I didn’t mind this because I love both salt and sweet popcorn. Overall, these reminded me very much of popcorn except with more flavour and crunch.

Ingredients: corn, soybean oil, kettle corn seasoning (8%) (sugar, brown sugar, thickener: guar gum), and salt.

The cracking black pepper cashews is a mix of black pepper cashews, roasted unsalted cashews and redskin peanuts. The black pepper cashews have an instant strong pepper taste but this dissipates as you chew, I really enjoyed the flavour. The plain cashews are also lovely, full of nutty flavour, as are the redskin peanuts which have the strong flavour of their skins. I’m not sure I’d have this packet again because, even though I enjoyed the flavour, there just wasn’t enough variety for me.

Ingredients: roasted cashews- cashew nuts (97%), rapeseed oil. Black pepper cashews- cashew nuts (94%), black pepper seasoning (6%) (sea salt, black pepper, rice flour, maltodextrin, tapioca and/or maize starch, sugar, lemon juice powder, natural flavouring). Redskin peanuts.

Finally, the fruity mango chutney and black pepper dippers. These came in a close second to the flapjacks as my favourite of this box. The dippers are kind of like sweet rice crackers which a real black pepper kick, the kind which tickles in the throat, and they worked really well with the chutney. The chutney is sweet and spicy, one of the best mango chutneys that I’ve had, I also dipped some of the nuts in the chutney and that was pretty nice as well.

Ingredients: black pepper dippers- rice, palm oil, sugar, tapioca starch, maltodextrin, soy sauce (soya beans, wheat, salt), cracked black pepper, salt, black pepper powder, natural flavouring, yeast extract, antioxidant: tocopherol (vitamin E), colours: paprika, caramel. Mango chutney- mango (51%), sugar, salt, acidity regulator: acetic acid, garlic, cumin seeds, mixed spices, fenugreek seeds, and nigella seeds.
