Graze Wednesdays part 5

Afternoon! Sorry I didn’t publish a post yesterday, it was a bit hectic. Among other things I found out I didn’t get that job and I took my youngest cat (who HATES going outside) to the vets for her yearly booster.

It’s Wednesday so it’s time for another Graze review, this week I got the summer berry flapjack, tomato and basil pizza, herby bread basket, and zesty lime and red pepper salsa with pitta chips.

The first packet I opened was the summer berry flapjack, the little bars smelt really fruity and I was instantly hungry. The bars were denser than the jaffa cake flapjacks which I had previously been sent and they had chewy, sweet berries inside. The oats were full flavoured and sweet and you could really sink your teeth into the flapjacks, I found them delicious and would definitely have them again.

Ingredients: rolled oats (41%), margarine (vegetable oils [rapeseed, palm], water, salt), demerara sugar, golden syrup, strawberry and raspberry infused cranberries (11%) (sugar, cranberries, natural flavouring, acidity regulator: citric acid, sunflower oil, elderberry juice concentrate), and cranberries (sugar, cranberries, sunflower oil).

The second pack I devoured was the tomato and basil pizza. The basil bruschetta was a deep whole wheat type of bread which a rich basil taste, they were very crunchy but a little boring on their own. The tomato breadsticks had a lovely flavour, I just wished it had been a bit stronger. The cheese cashews were gorgeous with a little onion taste. Each of the items were a little one dimensional, but that’s the beauty of Graze, its tomato and basil pizza when you eat all three together. It really did taste like pizza, and the bruschetta even provided that crunchy texture of the base. This was amazing and I’ll be keeping it in my ‘like’ list.

Ingredients: Cheese flavoured cashews: cashew nuts, cheese seasoning (6%) (maltodextrin, onion powder, rice flour, tapioca and/or maize starch, salt, sugar, yeast extract powder, natural flavouring, and colours: paprika & turmeric, garlic powder, white pepper). Basil crunchini: whole wheat flour, olive pomace oil, extra virgin olive oil, salt, wheat malt, brewer’s yeast, and basil. Mini tomato breadstick: wheat flour, sunflower oil, tomato powder (5%), salt, malted barley flour, yeast, and oregano.

The third packet I opened was the herby bread basket. I’ve had this before but I thought I’d give it another go. As much as I love the basil breadsticks, I still can’t stand the oregano rice crackers, so I’ve binned this now.

Ingredients: Mini basil breadsticks: wheat flour, sunflower oil, basil powder (6%), salt, malted barley flour, yeast, garlic powder, and sugar. Oregano rice crackers: rice, palm oil, sugar, corn maltodextrin, tapioca starch, salt, oregano powder, oregano flakes, natural flavouring, mixed herbs (thyme, marjoram, rosemary, basil), colours: caramel & paprika, soy sauce (soya beans, wheat, salt), yeast extract, and antioxidant: mixed tocopherols (vitamin E). Garlic crostini: wheat flour, sunflower oil, extra virgin olive oil, salt, yeast, malted barley flour, garlic powder.

The last packet I opened was the zesty lime and red pepper salsa with wholemeal pitta chips, another new snack for me. I found the chips particularly thick but very airy and crumbly inside. They were also quite bland despite having a great wholemeal flavour, but this worked very well with the salsa. The salsa was amazing, it was fresh and different, I’ve never had a pepper salsa before. The flavour was really full bodied, so the chips worked as a vessel to demolish this little pot of dip. I need more!

Ingredients: Red pepper salsa (58%): red peppers (20%), tomatoes, onion, tomato paste, sugar, water, white wine vinegar, spirit vinegar, cornflour, lime juice, salt, red chilli puree, and coriander leaf. Wholemeal pitta bites (42%): fortified plain wheat flour (wheat flour, calcium carbonate, iron, niacin, thiamin), wholemeal flour (23%), olive oil, yeast, and sea salt.
