Evening everyone,
Today I’m going to review the Tofurky gourmet Italian sausage in the sundried tomatoes and basil flavour. I had seen these in Holland & Barrett for a while and had always been put off by the price, last week I decided to take the plunge as a treat and give them a go. I’m so glad I did. The sausages have a fantastic texture whilst also being quite moist, and the flavour is absolutely fantastic. They are herby with a strong tomato flavour and are also a little spicy, which I really enjoyed. The texture of the skin was also great, especially when fried. The sausages are high in protein, contain a tiny bit of Vitamin A and calcium, and also a small amount of iron.
I’m going to be honest and say that I ate the first two fried by themselves, I wanted to really try them without anything else. I also cut half of one up and had it on a pizza, the rest of them will be added to tomato pasta (which I will probably post about another time). If I had a job I would buy these all the time, but seeing as they are over £3 (lost yet another receipt and can’t remember the price) I will be sticking to my tins of beans for a little while longer.
Ingredients: Organic tofu (water, organic soybeans, magnesium chloride, calcium chloride), vital wheat gluten, expeller pressed non-genetically engineered canola oil or hi oleic safflower oil, water, soy sauce (water, non-genetically engineered soybeans, wheat, salt, culture), sun dried tomatoes, textured wheat protein, basil, spices, granulated garlic, salt, and chili pepper.
Hope your Monday has been amazing,
The price is pretty crazy but they sound lovely and it’s always good when veggie sausages aren’t dry. Do they contain wheat?

Yes they do contain wheat, sorry 😦

Doh! I haven’t found a single veggie sausage that doesn’t unless you count veggie patties. Ah well, maybe on a cheat day ☺️

Have you tried the Linda McCartney red onion and rosemary sausages? I haven’t eaten them but my friend who has coeliac disease says they are delicious 🙂

No I’ve never come across those! I’m going to go around the supermarkets and track them down. Thank you so much!
