It’s Friday, and it’s made even sweeter by knowing that today is the start of my four day weekend. I think I’m going spend today cleaning, sorting things out, writing blog posts and spending time with my cats. Bliss.
Today’s review is on a product that I’ve been waiting a while to try, at the end of every Violife post I always say that I want to try some of the flavoured creamy versions so when I spotted this in my local health food store I immediately snatched it up. Today I’m reviewing cucumber and dill Violife creamy.
Once the initial excitement was over I was finding it hard to think what to eat this with, I tried it on a rice cake but I felt it needed extra flavours to tone it down because the flavour is quite strong. I also tried it in sandwiches and felt like the Tofurky slices calmed it down a little. I don’t know what the best combination would be for this cheese, would it be nice with burgers and hot dogs? What about stronger tasting meat slices such as pepperoni?
The texture is creamy but not the same consistency as a dairy product like Philadelphia, it’s a little bit difficult to spread but it’s delicious so I’ll let that pass. It has a strong pickle flavour and reminds me of deli food, it has vinegar in it so it has a sharp tangy flavour. Overall it is light and tastes fresh and clean. I really like it I just don’t feel like I’ve found it’s perfect companion yet. I can’t remember how much I paid for the 200g pot but I imagine it would have been around the £3 mark.
