Eat Real crisps review

Hi everyone,

I spent yesterday looking at houses, it was extremely disappointing. I just wish I could find something perfect in the right area. I am hoping to move next month so I’m just crossing my fingers that something comes up soon. At the moment I am in the middle of another long shift so I am probably ready to drop right now. I hate that work class Sunday as the start of the week.

Anyway, enough complaining, today’s review is on Eat Real crisps. I’ve tried the sour cream variety and was interested in trying some of their other products, I chose the sundried tomato and roasted garlic and the veggie and kale crisps.

The thing that instantly stuck me about the tomato crisps is that the bag was easily two times too large for the amount of product inside. It just seemed like a waste. They had a lovely crispy texture but I preferred the texture of the sour cream variety. I could instantly taste pepper and sweet tomato but the flavour wasn’t too intense. I didn’t get as much garlic as I would have liked. I tried dipping them into creamy Violife, garlic mayo and pate but the flavour of the crisps overpowered all of them. So I resigned to eating the packet by itself, they weren’t particularly exciting but they filled their purpose. I’m not sure that I’d buy them again.

Ingredients: Quinoa Flour, Corn Flour, Rice Flour, Vegetable Oil (Rapeseed) Corn Starch, Lentil Flour, Pea Flour, Sugar, Salt, Sundried Tomato & Roasted Garlic Seasoning Sugar, Garlic Powder (Including Roasted Garlic Powder), Tomato Powder (Including Sundried Tomato Powder), Salt, Rice Flour, Carob Flour, Natural Flavourings, Natural Colour (Paprika), Herb (Oregano), Spice (Cayenne).

Now the veggie and kale sticks were another thing entirely, the cashier gave me prior warning that they were addictive and she was definitely right. These are hollow straws of potato and veg, there isn’t a noticeable amount of salt and they are a little greasy. Perfect. The flavours are subtle but you can taste the vegetables, and I really liked the crunchy texture. I also found that the hollow straws made a great carrier for dips. I absolutely loved these and I will be going back to buy more, maybe I can practice some self control and not eat them all at once? Probably not.

Ingredients: Potato Starch, Dehydrated Potato (30%), Vegetable Oil (Rapeseed/Canola), Salt, Sugar, Tomato Powder (0.4%), Kale Powder (0.4%), Spinach Powder, Red Beet, Calcium Chloride, Turmeric.

I bought both of these packets from The Grape Tree and paid just under £2 for each pack, the tomato variety was 80g and the veggie and kale straws were 113g.

I hope you’ve had a great weekend, I am working til 9pm and I’m back in work for another four days 😦
