9 bar review

Hello again,

It’s Monday, the start to a new week! I wouldn’t be this upbeat if I hadn’t had three days off work and that I also get tomorrow off as well. I’ll probably feel a bit more tired after my back to back 11 hour shifts this weekend. Something to not look forward to. I spent most of the weekend at home, catching up on sleep and everything that I have to do. I also caught up with a friend who I hadn’t seen in a while and that was lovely.

Today I’m going to review another snack bar, I know I’ve reviewed many of these before and I’m you don’t enjoy them then I have to let you know that I have a few more to go. This time it’s a few of the new 9 bars.

I noticed the cocoa kick 9 bars at Superdrug and I had to buy them, I’d never seen them before and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. I picked up the raspberry and coconut varieties as that’s all they had.

These bars are a little different from the normal 9 Bars, they have cocoa as the topping instead of carob and they also have cocoa as part of the base with the seeds, a real chocolate treat. The scent of the raspberry bar hits you as soon as you open the packet, the bar is soft, rich and has a deep taste. There’s a sharpness from the really lovely raspberry, and the mixture between the seeds is creamy. It was a small bar, smaller than a regular 9 bar but I felt like I had eaten a lot, it was a real treat.

Ingredients: Mixed seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, hemp, sesame) (56%), Sugar, Golden syrup, Vegetable oils (palm, rapeseed), Cocoa powder (4.5%), Freeze dried raspberries (2%), Natural flavouring, Emulsifier: Sunflower lecithin, Salt.

The coconut bar had the same texture as the raspberry, the chocolate was the perfect partner to the coconut. The bar has flakes of coconut throughout the base which provide it with a little extra chew and flavour, however I think the flakes should have been a little smaller. I loved this bar as well but not as much as the raspberry variety. I saw online that there is a hazelnut and a cashew bar, I really want to try both of those. I picked up these small bars from Superdrug but I can’t remember how much I paid for them.

Ingredients: Mixed seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, hemp, sesame) (50%), Sugar, Golden syrup, Vegetable oils (palm, rapeseed), Coconut (8%), Cocoa powder (4.5%), Emulsifier: Sunflower lecithin, Salt.

I also found a new carob hit 9 bar in my local health food store, the chia berry variety. To be honest, I liked the original carob top but I now prefer the cocoa top. I found the raspberries to be nice but not as noticeable as in the cocoa kick bar. You could notice the sweetness of the seed mixture more without cocoa in the mix and that was nice, it was a lighter snack. I still like the original 9 bars but I will be adding the cocoa varieties to my diet.

Hope you’ve had a fantastic start to your week,
