The Vegan Kind August box review

Evening all,

It’s the end of the week. I had an interview yesterday and I am really not sure how it went. I’m working til 6 tonight and then I have all week to prepare for a pretty awful week where I’m working bank holiday Monday and the entire weekend after it, I must have done something terrible in a past life! This week I’ve been exercising and trying to gain weight as well as focusing on my mental health and I’ve seen a few improvements, still a long way to go.

Today I’m finally getting around to reviewing The Vegan Kind’s August box.

The first product I tried from this month’s box was the Squirel Sisters coconut cashew snack bar. I’ve seen this brand on Instagram but had never tried any of their products so I was excited to give this a go. I think the packaging is so sweet, even the little paper tray inside the packet makes it look like a tiny takeaway dish. You get two little sticks in a packet, they look kind of like Nakd bars and they have a strong smell of coconut. They are less compact than similar bars that I’ve tied and almost fall apart in the mouth. They tasted very sweet and nutty with a creamy coconut aftertaste that was lovely, and not at all soapy. These were absolutely delicious and I’d like to try the raspberry ripple flavour.

The next thing I ate was the Hippeas, I’ve actually had this flavour before. They are like a larger, more tough version of Wotsits. They have a salty, smoky, sweet flavour which is really nice. The texture is crunchy to start but quickly melts away. They are gluten free, high in fibre, a source of protein with no msg or trans fats. I’d love to try the two flavours which I haven’t eaten yet, the fajita and the pepper varieties.

Also included in the box was a pack of Follow Your Heart Vegan Egg. I’ve already reviewed this product and you can find the review here.

There was also a Native Unearthed deodorant in the box but as I have many deodorants to try I haven’t tried this yet, but I will post a separate review on the product once I’ve had a chance to try it out.

I also got quite excited when I saw these sweet pineapple candies from Candy Kittens. This is their first vegan sweet and luckily it’s a flavour which I really like. The sweets are larger than I would expect but that’s not a problem. They are shaped like cute little cat heads and are not too chewy, just really soft. The pineapple flavour could be stronger in my opinion but I really loved them and hope they start to adapt their current range to be completely vegan because I’d absolutely love to try the grape variety. These sweets are gluten free and are made with real fruit juice.

The last thing I tried was the crunchy choco balls from Landgarten (I’ve posted this link because at the time of posting their UK site doesn’t seem to be working). These are little chocolate balls coated in dark chocolate, and while it’s not the darkest chocolate I’ve ever eaten it was still too dark for me to enjoy. I feel like if the crunchy centre had been plain and not chocolate then they might have been a little better for me but that’s just my tastes. The brand does make other flavours more suited to me but unfortunately none of them are vegan.

Hope you have an amazing weekend, see you on Monday!
