I hate this time of year because it gets dark so early and I feel like I barely see the sun. This month is a nightmare with everything I have to do but hopefully next month will be calmer and more organised. I have tomorrow off which I am quite excited about as I am meeting a friend, but then I’m working all day Sunday which isn’t so great.
Today I’m reviewing Pulsin’s Vanilla Choc Chip Protein Snack.
This little bar packs in 12g of protein, perfect for workouts and just generally topping up through the day. The bar is supposed to be a healthy alternative to cookie dough with vanilla, chocolate chips and nuts. The protein comes from raw rice and peas, the bar is cold pressed, suitable for vegans, gluten free and non GM.
I really wanted to like this bar, I was never that fussed on cookie dough but I thought that this could make a really nice snack. The bar feels quite hard when you hold it and you can see visible chocolate throughout. I felt it had a very slight sweet vanilla scent but it was barely noticeable. It was softer to bite into than I thought it would be, and it has a crumbly, almost gritty texture. The chocolate was really nice, not too dark and it went well with the other flavours. Overall it was okay, and it did remind me of cookie dough, but it didn’t excite me, I think because I was expecting more than a bland gritty bar.
I bought the 50g bar from Tesco, although I couldn’t tell you how much it cost because they’ve taken it down from their website.
