What’s Happening Wednesday: 18/12/2019

Hey everyone,

Welcome back to another What’s Happening Wednesday.

Well I can’t believe Christmas is a week away! In the last week Violet has turned 26 weeks, then 6 months, time is going too quickly and I’ll be back at work before I know it. We went to a baby sensory Christmas party on the weekend and Violet got to try some new things including a ball pit, but it was a bit too much singing for me so we probably wouldn’t attend the routine classes. We also started weaning when she turned 6 months. Looking forward to the rest of the week, I will be meeting a friend on the weekend, and we are hoping to make some more progress on the house as we don’t have long before we have to be out of our rented accommodation.

I really enjoyed the Strictly final and my favourite won, so that’s a bonus. I can’t wait for the last episode of His Dark Materials on Sunday. I also finished The Marvellous Mrs Maisel this week, I liked it but it definitely wasn’t as good as previous seasons in my opinion. I managed to read a little of my book and fit a bit of exercise in. My Christmas presents have all been bought for a while now but this week I bagged them all up ready to go.

Violet has been getting used to weaning this week, so far she has tried cauliflower, carrot, sweet potato, peppers, broccoli, toast, avocado, weetabix, banana, kiwi, mango, watermelon, baby corn, asparagus, cucumber, pear, tomato, orange and honeydew melon. We are doing baby led weaning so she is in control of the mealtime and what she does, and doesn’t eat. I have no idea what I will buy for her next week as we are going to do our Christmas food shop at M&S, I think I will just pick up some bits on my way round. At this point in time she has only really like the sweet potato and the orange slice.

We are still making our way through our book advent, we are also still doing all of her physical exercises and swimming is going decently well. Sitting up unaided is getting better, and today she rolled from back to front and actually managed to get her arm out from underneath her. She is starting to recognise the signs for Bamba (the toy monkey) and milk (the signing kit says drink, but it’s the sign for milk and I want her to distinguish milk from the water she has while weaning). We are starting to introduce the signs for food and drink now to go with her weaning. We are playing with all the same toys, she is absolutely loving her maracas at the moment and has figured out how to shake them properly. This week I introduced some sensory balls to encourage her to use two hands at the same time to manipulate an object, at the moment she only likes the one with bits that stick out because she likes to chew them.

That’s it for another week, next time I post one of these it will be Christmas Day!

Over and out.
