Welcome back to another Try Day Friday, this week it’s Iceland’s no duck 12 piece Chinese selection.
The selection includes sweet plum gyoza, hoisin pastry cones and schezuan filo crackers. I bought the pack of 12 for £3. They come in separate plastic packets inside a cardboard box.
The gyoza smelt like peppers and had a really strong salty vegetable taste, the pastry was crispy but also weirdly soft. The cones didn’t smell of much, they tasted fruity and like ginger, the cones were crispy and the filling was soft. The crackers didn’t have a strong scent either, they tasted like lemongrass, a spicy, savoury flavour with a heat to it. The heat was reasonably strong but didn’t last, there wasn’t much of an aftertaste. The pastry was crispy and the centre was soft.
Easy, convenient party food.
I wasn’t really that fussed on the flavours.
I would give the no duck Chinese selection a 3 out of 5 stars.
I probably wouldn’t buy them again, I love the idea but the flavours were not for me.
That’s it for another week.
Over and out.
